Community Collage at People’s Collage (from the French: coller, "to glue" is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms and matter (paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera) thus creating a new whole. “While artists have been layering images and incorporating autonomous elements into their work since the advent of paper (~2000 BC in China), 'collage' truly emerged as a medium in its own right in the early years of the 20th century with the Cubist experiments of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. The duo coined the term “collage” to describe works composed from pasted pieces of colored paper, newsprint, and fabric, considered at the time to be an audacious intermingling of high and low culture. It revolutionized modern art.”  - Lauren Wallach Here is your invitation to drop by and share an audacious and revolutionary afternoon exploring the intuitive and sometimes ironic world of collage.  It’s fun. It’s easy. It’s always surprising.  No previous experience necessary. Magazines, old books, other collage materials, scissors, glue sticks, mounting boards, and a good vibe will be provided.  Please bring along additional materials and tools if you like. Looking forward to sharing creative space together!
