This year, the CVC 2018 is being held April 26-27, 2018 (Thursday-Friday) in Steven's Point, WI. Please see below for the conference program and frequently asked questions!  a. Strategy to See: Strategies for Students with Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment Part 1-  Diane Sheline - Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is now the most common cause of visual impairment in the US. Come to this two part workshop and learn more about the importance of determining appropriate accommodations and strategies that will encourage more consistent and efficient looking behavior from your student with CVI.
 b. Training Beyond School & Home: Multi-day (overnight) Training Opportunities for Adults and Children with Vision Loss – A panel presentation led by Jean Kenevan - Learn about the extended, overnight, group training opportunities for children and adults with vision loss. These “away from home” training opportunities challenge our students and consumers to step outside their comfort zones while meeting others with vision loss, and gaining skills and confidence.
 c.  Introducing the Victor Reader Trek: Blending a Multi Media Player and Orientation Device  - Jim Sullivan & Sarah Arch - The Victor Trek is newest GPS device from HumanWare. This hands-on experience will begin with a review of the Victor Trek and will end with exploration of nearby Stevens Point to learn more about the surrounding streets and establishments.

 a. Strategy to See: Strategies for Students with Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment Part 2 - Diane Sheline - Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is now the most common cause of visual impairment in the US.  b. O&M and Physical Therapy a Partnership for Mobility – Steve McAuliff & Dr. Jenna Schroeder - A look at the benefits of a collaboration between Physical Therapy and Orientation and Mobility as a means of providing optimum mobility for clients and how to successfully implement such a partnership
 c. Chrome Accessibility, What You Need to Know – Jim Denham - This presentation will highlight the built-in accessibility features of the Chrome Operating System and demonstrate how Chromebooks can be used by individuals who are blind or visually impaired to gain access to a wide variety of cloud based applications, including Google Docs and Google Drive.

 a. Strategy to See: Strategies for Students with Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment Part 1 - Diane Sheline - If you missed the morning sessions, here is another opportunity to hear Diane Sheline present on CVI. 
 b. Braille Notetakers for the 21st Century – Jim Unger – Dedicated braille note takers have been around for a long time and have changed over the years to meet the needs of users. Come see the newest trends in note takers for your students and consumers including the Braille Note Touch, El Braille, and the Polaris. 
c. Vision Forward & WI Council; Statewide Resources for Persons with VI and Professionals – Jaclyn Borchardt & Jean Kalscheur - Vision Forward Association and Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired are important non-profit agencies in Wisconsin that can help to support the great work of the vision professionals in our state. Learn more about the scope of services provided, new and innovative programming, advocacy efforts and more.
2:30-3:30 Break-Out Sessions (3) 
a. Strategy to See: Strategies for Students with Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment Part 2 - Diane Sheline - If you missed the morning sessions, here is another opportunity to hear Diane Sheline present on CVI. 
b. From English Illiteracy to Employment – Kotumu Karma & Anya Fuller - BLIND, Inc. has developed an integrated ELL/adjustment to blindness training program for blind immigrants. Students learn to use braille/assistive technology and to speak, read and write English. As they progress students take classes in cane travel, home management and industrial arts. Join us to learn more about this innovative program!
 c. Cutting Edge Wearable Technology – Cory Ballard - This session is designed to introduce cutting edge wearable technologies including eSight, Iris Vision, Aira, and Orcam. Learn about and get demonstrations on devices that provide hands-free magnification, instant access to printed materials, and live agents providing visual information around you. Although this technology may be cutting edge, it can be easy to learn and use.
3:45-4:45 Break-Out Sessions (3)
 a. DVR Services – Kathleen Enders & Andrea Simon - The presentation will include updated DVR statistics, an overview of the DVR process and services for consumers who are Blind or Visually Impaired. The services section will include an introduction of the Business Enterprise Program in Wisconsin.
 b. Tips for Evaluating Little Ones – Tricia Weis - Teachers may have years before getting a 3 year old and on their caseload. This class will give you tips on evaluating the little ones and strategies to bypass typical behaviors that can throw off your evaluation results. I am hoping you leave with confidence towards a wonderful evaluation experience.
 c. Cane Quest - Meghan Fredel & Kay Rhode – Wisconsin held its first annual CaneQuest at Vision Forward in November! This is an orientation and mobility challenge where students get to show off their awesome cane skills! Now, we want to share Cane Quest with you! This presentation will feature hands-on opportunities to explore some of the stations that students worked through. We will have the chance to discuss O&M techniques with our peers!

 a.  An Introduction to the Light Aid – Diane Paul - Join this presentation to learn about the Light Aide and help you consider using this tool when working with your students. We will discuss functions, materials needed, cost, pros and cons.
 b. Open Sports & Outdoor Activities for Children and Adults – Moderator Jean Kalscheur - Join a panel discussion of sports and outdoor activities that are accessible for Wisconsin youth and adults with blindness or low vision. The panel will be comprised of representatives from the Department of Natural Resources, Vision Forward Association, the Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan, and National Beep Baseball. Participants will receive a resource guide.
 c. O&M for Students Who Are Mobility Dependent Part 1 - Kay Rhode & Meghan Fredel – Join us for experiential time with power and manual wheelchairs, a power point to stir our thinking on O&M and degrees of independent travel, and time to problem solve with peers on strategies to use with students. Part one of two hour presentation
9:30-10:30  Vendor Hour – Enjoy an informative hour with the vendors learning about the latest and greatest technology in the field.
10:45-11:45  Keynote Speaker: Dr. Melanie Schmitt: Inherited Retinal Degenerations & An Update In Treatment  Dr. Schmitt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Director of the Pediatric Inherited Retinal Degeneration Clinic, and Co-Director of the Ocular Genetics Program.

1:00-2:00 Break-Out Sessions (3)
 a. Quality Transition Training Programs – Michell Gip - BLIND, Inc administers WIOA approved transition programs for blind/low vision high school students to develop non-visual skills. Our summer programs include an 8 week residential program and shorter theme-based offerings. Our school year programing supplements expanded core curriculum instruction. Quality training empowers blind youth to successfully transition to adulthood!
 b.  Take a Byte out of Google with Jaws – Amy Snow - This session will focus on use of JAWS 18 with Google Apps. Participants will practice accessing Google Apps from a Windows environment. Resources will be given to participants to assist them in incorporating what they've learned with their students. Prior to attending, individuals should have and be signed into their Google Account.
 c. O&M for Students Who Are Mobility Dependent Part 2 - Kay Rhode & Meghan Fredel – Join us for experiential time with power and manual wheelchairs, a power point to stir our thinking on O&M and degrees of independent travel, and time to problem solve with peers on strategies to use with students. 2:15-3:15  Break-out Sessions (3)   
 a.  Educational Strategies & Solutions: Innovation Station - A collaborative group discussion led by Micaela Smith, driven by the educational strategies and solutions needed by the participants. This session will set norms, have great discussions, and work as a professional learning community to increase our education practices.
 b.  Accessibyte Online – Joe Jorgenson - A Cloud-based Platform for VI Students - Accessibyte Online is the first fully accessible cloud-based platform for visually impaired learners. Find out what programs are offered and how they were developed to meet the needs of TVI's and their students.
c. Blending Mainstream & AT for Successful Classroom Outcomes – Jim Sullivan -  Technology that blend assistive technology and mainstream technology provide visually impaired students with a way to access a variety of course content. In this session participants will explore how the BrailleNote Touch and Connect 12 can be used to complete everything from math assignments to writing exercises for language arts.

1.  How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets are available through our Eventbrite page. There is a large green button (link) in the upper right hand corrner of our event page; click the button and select your ticket! If you need assistance, please feel free to give Jean Kalscheur a call at 608-237-8106.

Yes! We offer discount codes for WAER members, Collaborative Vision Committee members, and non-profit vendors; in addition, we offer an early bird ticket. Please look for emails with these discount codes! When purchasing your ticket, there is a link in the upper right hand corner of that is labeled "Enter Promotional Code," this is where you will enter your discount code.
6.  What days will lunch be provided?
Lunch will be provided on Thursday.  Visit nearby restaurants, network with other vision professionals and catch up with friends on Friday.
7.  Will there be vegetarian options for lunch?
Yes!
8.  I have a food allergy. Can I make a special request for my meal?
Absolutely! Send an email to collaborativevisionwisconsin@gmail.com letting us know what you can and cannot have and we will take care of the rest!
9.  When I make a hotel reservation at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, what group name should I use to receive a discount? What about if I am reserving my room online?

10.  What is the deadline for reserving a room at the Holiday Inn Convention Center at the state rate?
March 26, 2018. However if the hotel block is full, the hotel cannot gurantee more rooms at the same rate, so reserve your room early!
11.  What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is free parking at the event venue.
12.  What accessibility options are available at the hotel? 
Parking area for guide dogs is available. Please check with front desk upon arrival. Additional assistance avaiable upon request from hotel staff.
13.  How do I get access to presenter's handouts?
Presenter handouts will be available digitally. Look for future emails on where to find them!
14.  How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

15.  What's the refund policy?
All cancellations must be submitted in writing, via email. If a cancellation is submitted 30 days prior to the conference, a full refund will be given; 20-29 days, a 50% refund is given; 10-19 days, a 25% refund is given; 1-7 days, no refund will be given.
16.  What restaurants are nearby the conference?
Amber Grill, El Mezcal, Matsu-Ya Sushi Bar and Grill, and Arby's, just to name a few! 
17.  How do I earn continuing education credits?
ACVREP credits will be available.
