What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Bring a notebook or journal, a pen, and an open mind. If you have song ideas, lyrics, or poems you're working on, feel free to bring those too. You're also welcome to bring an instrument like a guitar or ukulele if you'd like, though it's not required.

Question 3

What if I can't play an instrument?

Accepted Answer

No problem! Many great songwriters focus on lyrics and melody while collaborating with musicians. This workshop celebrates different creative strengths - poets, lyricists, and musicians all have something unique to offer.

Question 4

Will we finish complete songs?

Accepted Answer

The goal is to learn collaborative techniques and make meaningful progress on song ideas together. Some groups may finish a rough song, while others might develop strong hooks, choruses, or verses. The focus is on the creative process and breakthrough moments rather than polished final products.

Question 5

How will groups be organized?

Accepted Answer

After an introduction and overview of collaborative songwriting tips, we'll break into small groups of 3-4 people. Groups will have dedicated time to develop ideas together, then we'll reconvene to share insights and creative breakthroughs.

Where should I park?

Accepted Answer

There is street parking on Elm Street, Depot Street, and Old Granite Street, and also a city surface parking lot at the bottom of Depot Street. The meters on Depot Street only accept quarters, but the city surface lot accepts credit cards.
