Collaborative & Proactive Solutions Skill Enhancement Course - FALL 2017 - Session Two

Lives in the Balance is the non-profit organization founded by child psychologist Dr. Ross Greene, originator of the evidence-basedCollaborative & Proactive Solutions(CPS) approach. Our vision is to foster collaboration and empathy, transform lives, and inspire change for all children (especially the most vulnerable), to heighten awareness of the detrimental and counterproductive effects of punitive interventions, and to address the systemic issues that impede our progress. The mission of Lives in the Balance is to provide vital, accessible resources and programs to caregivers of behaviorally challenging kids; to bring the plight of these kids into the public consciousness; to address the systemic issues that cause many of these kids to slip through the cracks; and to promote parenting and disciplinary practices that foster the better side of human nature in all children.

<H2><SPAN><STRONG>Collaborative & Proactive Solutions</STRONG></SPAN></H2>
<H2><STRONG><SPAN>5 Week Skill Enhancement Course</SPAN></STRONG></H2>
<P>Designed for individual clinicians, educators, and other providers working directly with challenging youth and their caregivers, this course is an alternative to the lengthier, more intensive 24-week certification training in Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS). Over the course of five 60-minute group teleconference sessions, participants receive coaching and feedback from certified providers in CPS to increase their skills in the application of the CPS model. The first session is focused on honing skills in using the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP).  The remaining four sessions are focused on Plan B, and involve having participants audiotape their use of Plan B with actual kids and their caregivers so as to receive explicit coaching and feedback. A recording of your Plan B attempts with KIDS will be due for each session. Registration is limited to six participants per training.</P>
<P CLASS="MsoNoSpacing"><SPAN><STRONG>Prerequisite:</STRONG> Prior knowledge of the CPS model, either through attendance at one of Dr. Greene’s one-day trainings or reading The Explosive Child, Lost at School, or Lost and Found. You'll also need access to a sufficient number of kids and caregivers to permit practice in the use of the model.  Because the course requires six participants to be viable, refunds cannot be issued 14 days prior to the start date of the first session.</SPAN></P>
<P CLASS="MsoNoSpacing"><SPAN>Supervision Sessions will be held on September 26, October 10th, 24th, November 7th and November 21st at 4:00PM EST.</SPAN></P>

<DIV><SPAN><SPAN><STRONG>How will I share my ALSUPs and recordings with the group leader? </STRONG></SPAN><SPAN>A Dropbox will be created that only the training group can access. Your email address will be used to invite you to join the Dropbox.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN><SPAN><STRONG>How will confidentiality be maintained during the course? </STRONG></SPAN><SPAN>Prior to the start of the course, each participant will sign a form indicating that, as with any supervision group, all information shared as part of this learning experience is to be held in strictest confidence. Audio recordings are not downloaded onto any participants' computer, nor that of the leader, and recordings will be deleted from the Dropbox folder once they have been reviewed. You'll want to explain how the recording is to be used to the kids/families who are being recorded, and possibly have them sign a consent form.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN><SPAN><STRONG>How do I call in for the sessions? </STRONG></SPAN><SPAN>A toll-free teleconference number and code will be provided to you prior to the start of the course.  If you are calling from outside North America, there are various technologies that can be used to call in at low or no cost.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>
