Collaborative Devising Practices for Ensemble Soundscape Creation: From Concept to Scores, Performance, and Sound Design

This workshop provides practical tools and practices to create group-collaborative spatialized soundscapes using simple materials that anyone can access, starting from the blank page.

Activities will include:

• Sound sensitization

• Spatilized sound exploration

• Performance/audience placement consideration

• Concept determination and text content generation

• Text refinement/editing practices

• Group “road map”/extended score creation

• Recorded performance iteration

• Blended soundscape creation from multiple performance documentation

This workshop is open for all audiences; and the activities are organized to be fully accessible, playful, and fun! You will come out of the workshop with concrete materials and practices to create your own soundscapes from scratch, on your own or with as many people as you would like to collaborate. Please bring a mobile phone with recording capability. All other materials will be provided.
