Cold Brew Throwdown Competitor Registration

It's a throwdown and you don't have to be a barista to play! Last day to register to compete will be Saturday, July 7th.
It's time to show off your mad cold brew skills and enjoy a killer party at the same time.
GENERAL INFORMATION + CONTEST RULES
COMPETITOR + SPONSOR PRE-PARTY: Thursday, July 6th from 6-8pm (Incl with Registration.) BBQ + Beer provided!
MAIN EVENT: Friday, July 7, 20167 City & State, 2625 Broad Ave, Memphis TN 38112 
GOAL: To bring coffee professionals and enthusiasts together to celebrate cold-brew coffee, different roasters, a variety of brew methods, creative signature beverages, and an interactive, fun competition with awesome prizes. 
HOW DOES THE COMPETITION WORK? After a 30-minute set-up time, each competitor will be “open for business” for an hour during which they will serve samples of a cold-brew coffee and a signature drink that uses cold-brew coffee to the first 80 attendees and the panel of judges. They will also give a presentation to the judges that is no longer than 4 minutes. Judges will determine a first, second, and third-place winners, and the first 80 attendees will cast votes for the winner of the People’s Choice Award. 
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENTER? $15, which includes a ticket to the Pre-Event Party Thursday, July 6th 2017. We’ll have bbq, beer and a chance to hang and meet your competitors.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Anyone who wants to show their coffee cold brewing skills!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 
6:00 pm: The party begins
6:30 pm: Set-up time begins.  Competitors have 30 minutes to prep their station. This includes brewing their coffee if necessary; pre-brewed coffee is allowed; prepping their signature drink; decorating their table, etc. 
7:00 pm: Service begins. Competitors are “open for business,” serving samples of their cold-brew coffee and signature drinks to the attendees as well as judges. 
8:00 pm: Close of service. Competitors clean up their stations. 
8:30 pm: Announcement of the winners. 
EACH COMPETITOR WILL BE PROVIDED WITH: 
• table • Ice (bring a cooler) • Wash sink (shared) • Electricity (if requested in advance) • Sample cups (4 oz.)
EACH COMPETITOR RESPONSIBLE FOR: 
• Coffee (can be any roaster, prepared by any cold-brew coffee method) • Signature drink ingredients • Brewing equipment if brewing on site • Utensils 
• Table décor 
GUIDELINES FOR JUDGES PRESENTATION 
Competitors may present to the judges however they want—creativity is encouraged! But here are some loose guidelines: 
STRAIGHT COLD BREW  > What kind of coffee and why did you choose it? > What flavor notes will the judges find in the cup? > What brew method did you use, and why? 
SIGNATURE COLD-BREW BEVERAGE > Name or title for your signature drink > What ingredients did you use?  > Why did you choose these ingredients for this particular coffee? > What flavor notes will the judges find in the cup? 
GENERAL RULES 
• The same cold-brew coffee should be used for both the straight cold brew and the cold brew signature drink. • Competitors may prepare their cold brew any way they would like. If this means immersion brew, the judges understand that means your cold brew was prepared off site. • Alcohol is not allowed • Since we won’t have grinders available for competitors to use, judges won’t penalize for pre-ground coffee • Competitors are responsible for having enough cold brew and signature drinks on hand to serve around 85-90 people (sample serving size, approx. 4 oz.)

• Taste balance  • Coffee taste prevalent (i.e. we should be able to taste coffee in the signature drink) • Creativity  • Professionalism
