Event description
Want to learn a method that can help dissolve barriers to connecting deeper with yourself and others?

About this Event

CBCT® is a 10-week secular ethics training with roots in buddhism yet is not religious. Developed at Emory University by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin Negi, PhD with input from multiple disciplines & the Dalai Lama, and taught in medical & educational institutions—anyone can learn this practice.

Class meets 10 succcessive Tuesdays from April 9 through June11.

CBCT® has interfaced eastern meditation with neuroscience and psychology. It first couples self nurturance with focused attention meditations, and then adds progressive contemplative exercises that help one gain insight/awareness of how one’s attitudes and behaviors either support or hinder a compassionate response toward life’s ups and downs. Research shows multiple biomarker and social benefits including increased personal resilience, improved satisfaction, plus a greater capacity for tenderness toward self and others.

You understand the stresses each of us struggle with —both in our clients, our personal lives and beyond. You are invited to participate in this new ten week series of teachings which conveys old, but scientifically proven methods that help us to become more aware of our automatic responses and habitual patterns, attain mental stability, to develop self-compassion, to cultivate appreciation of others, then gradually open to engaged compassion. Compassion is a trait that can be developed and expanded. Although this course incorporates a meditative methodology, it is secular and open to everyone.
