About this event

At Wilding in the Weald we have found an entire Middle Bronze Age settlement (1445BC) across all areas of the farm, features include a burial mound surrounded by a ring ditch, round houses, field systems, trackways and drove ways and most fascinating of all are a collection of Bronze Age furnace features of which we believe were used for repurposing Bronze. We will be excavating the multiple sites over the next 5 years and plan to reconstitute the burial mound and round houses as they would have appeared in the Bronze Age.
We want all ages to experience history, it is a history that connects us all to our ancestors and is fascinating to learn how they were living here 3,500 years ago.
We hope to spark an interest in the younger generation around local history and how we make sense of what is found in the ground. Cameron Ross, Owner of the farm and archaeologist, will lead children through a simple archaeological experience teaching them archaeological tool techniques and what to look for in the ground and you never know we all might find some exciting finds that link to our history although we cannot promise this!
Cameron will be sharing a little bit about the Bronze Age era and how they would have lived to help put things into context for the children.

Maximum 10 children 5-12years old.

£4 per child, any accompanying adults are free.
