Frequently asked questions

Can I open hand tip?

No.

Does block count as a touch?

Yes.

Can I open hand receive the ball?

Yes. A hard-driven attack (downward trajectory) may be defensively played in any manner, especially for safety, as long as action is not a lift (i.e., double hits allowed, including actions with open hands/fingers). Any other open hand receive on non-hard-driven plays must be done with set quality.

Can I set over?

Yes. Sets over must be clean and square. No caught or thrown balls or double-contacts.

Is there a Courtesy Rule? (Guys serve to guys?)

We would prefer that :) It's not a rule, rather a suggestion. Gals are still expected to make a play on the ball. There is no re-serve.
