<P>Have you ever been curious about coding? Would you like to experiment with digital media? Fancy learning some skills and creating a mini digital artwork?</P>
<P>This workshop will introduce you to the basics of coding using the free <A HREF="https://processing.org/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Link to the Processing main site" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Processing</A> software which has been created by and for digital artists. By the end of the session you will have created an animated Processing sketch <A HREF="https://www.openprocessing.org/sketch/375690" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Link to an example of the sketch" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">like this one</A> and will have had a chance to experiment with it to explore the possibilities.</P>

<H3><STRONG>Do I need any previous experience with coding?</STRONG></H3>
<P>Not at all! I aim to take you from zero coding experience to creating a simple digital artwork. This will be the first time I've run this course, so it'll be a journey of discovery for all of us, but I'm confident that you'll have at least dipped your toe in the digital arts water by the end of the session.</P>
<H3><STRONG>What do I need to bring with me?</STRONG></H3>
<P>Ideally, a laptop computer with the Processing coding app already installed. Windows, Mac or Linux: it doesn’t matter which. It's fine to follow along without a computer if you would prefer, but I think you'll get more out of it if you have a go yourself. I've written some <A HREF="https://dringtech.com/presentations/2019/08/01/coding-creative-workshop-preparation/#/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Link to processing setup instructions" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">instructions on installing and setting up Processing</A>. If you need some help, get in touch or visit me at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on the day of the workshop. It may be possible to find a small number of loan laptops. <H3><STRONG>Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?</STRONG></H3>
<P>No - I'll have a list of everyone registered, and can check it off there. </P>
<H3><STRONG>Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?</STRONG></H3>
<P>I'd appreciate knowing this in advance, but there's no problem with transferring to someone else.</P>
