Join us for an evening of community conversations and exchange of thoughts, guest speakers sharing their view on things through their own experience and expertise; all around information security and development. Two very interlinked topics which are so relevant in today’s world.
<A HREF="http://www.codemotionworld.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Codemotion</A> is one of the biggest tech events for developers in Europe. It has been pushing innovation and knowledge sharing for developers and the coding world, for more than five years, through its nine yearly editions in eight different countries. With the second <A HREF="http://amsterdam2017.codemotionworld.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dutch edition coming up in May</A>, the Codemotion Tech Pills, Rotterdam edition, touches on a very important area within development, information security, and helps us warm up and get the conversations going in anticipation of the big event coming later this year!
 
Secure development, security by design, coding securely, SSDLC, SDL – many terms have been used for the security & development intersection. The questions are, can we bring security in our daily development activities and how, to what extend are secure development practices put in place and how do they reinforce our initiatives, and how can we get value from building security in versus trying to bolt it on later?
Whether you are developer that wants to learn more, strengthen their security skills or get started thinking security by design, an infosec professional that is involved in application security, or helping with the development cycle, or someone who is involved in general with technology products or solutions, this is a great event to get some security thinking and meaningful conversations started!

The OWASP SKF can be a developer’s best friend when it comes to finding a tool that can be used as a guide for building and verifying secure software. Use it pre & post development, as a training source, knowledge reference with practical code examples or to overall better your security practices in your development cycle – a must for application security. Get to know what SKF is and how you can get the most out of it!

“Principles of secure software development”
Good software development is guided by certain principles. Many of us have become familiar with principles such as KISS, DRY, rules around code complexity and so forth. Likewise, secure software development adheres to certain principles. While many of these overlap with general principles for code quality, some are specific to security. In this presentation, we will touch upon a few of those, and explore them using code examples.

Base Cyber Security hosts the event and will be part of <A HREF="http://vencaf.nl" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Venture Café </A> in <A HREF="http://cicrotterdam.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CiC Rotterdam,</A> so please do check out the rest of the programming that day if you want to combine it!  Join us at the 4th floor of the Groothandelsgebouw (right next to the Rotterdam Central Station).
Doors (and the bar!)  open at 18:00 along with conversations on security & development, with the guest speakers of the Codemotion Tech Pills, Rotterdam edition starting sharing thoughts after 19:00, so arrive at your convenience.  Pizza will be served for the participants of the meetup that sign up, and drinks (along with hopefully great after presentations conversations) will continue after the speakers share their wisdom / experiences with all of us!
