Oftentimes, the breadth of potential computational design applications leaves practitioners in the AEC industry confused and paralyzed. If it’s applied, it is often only in the early design phases. Is there room for computation in other phases of a project’s life cycle?Join co.de.D (Computational Design Detroit) as we explore the application of computational methodologies in technical design and digital fabrication with our guests Molly Chen (Associate Project Manager, <a href="https://situ.nyc/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SITU Fabrication</a>), Gustav Fagerström (Digital Practice Leader, <a href="https://www.walterpmoore.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Walter P Moore</a>) and Karl Daubmann (Dean, <a href="https://www.ltu.edu/architecture_and_design/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LTU College of Architecture and Design</a>).Gustav will lead the event with a presentation on how his team leveraged computation in the development and delivery of the façade of the Chase Bank Arena, home of 2018 NBA champions Golden State Warriors. Following the presentation will be a panel discussion on the event’s topic along with Q&A from the audience.Learning Objectives<a href="http://andrewheumann.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a>:<ul><li>Examination of how to convert design geometry into for-construction geometry by breaking down complex geometry into simple geometric primitives.</li><li>Discussion of how to bridge the gap between design and construction.</li><li>Transitioning from the traditional 2D project delivery to a 3D delivery and what that means for the industry.</li><li>Discussion of how designers, architects, engineers and fabricators can communicate effectively with data and common protocols.</li></ul>
