About this Event<a href="https://www.cchers.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Center for Community Health Education Research and Service (CCHERS)</a> and the Roxbury International Film Festival are continuing their Community Conversations Series on February 12th, 2020. The event includes the screening of a film followed by a panel of “subject matter experts” about the film’s content as well as “community conversations” around race, racism, and racial health equity.The showing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12th, 2020, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Media Arts Center at Roxbury Community College. The film we are featuring is the documentary, Code Switching. A highly personal story of 2 generations of students participating in the Boston METCO busing program, which buses minority students from the inner city to the suburbs for the purpose of desegregation and equal education. They strive for enhanced academic opportunities while simultaneously navigating urban and suburban settings and cultures. How does the new generation of METCO students stay afloat in the boiler room of social media and increased competition for college enrollment?The panel of discussants includes:Dr. Carroll Blake, Lead Executive Coach for Male Educators of Color (MEOC) in the Boston Public Schools (Moderator)Jean McGuire, Former METCO Executive Director, Metropolitan Council for Educational OpportunityMike Mascoll, Documentary Film DirectorBlair Ross, METCO Parent/Former METCO Student, Admissions Counselor at Cambridge CollegeMichelle Christian, Former METCO Student
