ThinkSTEAM is a non-profit organization with a mission to educate, encourage, and empower K-12 girls to excel through programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and the Arts.

Code Matters is a series of three workshops conducted in partnership with Columbia University's Society of Women Engineers for girls in Grades 5 - 9. The event is sponsored by NCWIT's Aspire IT program. Girls should attend all three workshops. Girls have to bring their own laptops for the workshops. 
In additon, Columbia University Lab tours will be on Jan 20th and Jan 27th.
Session 1 - Jan 20th from 1 PM to 5 PM (HTML/CSS - Learn to code a Website using HTML/CSS) - Lerner Room 569
Session 2 - Jan 27th from 1 PM to 5 PM (App Inventor) - Lerner East Ramp Hall
Session 3 - Feb 3rd  from 1 PM to 5 PM -- Lerner Room 569
During the last session, form teams and work on a group project. Use your knowledge to create a project to raise awareness of a social issue. Volunteers will be there to mentor your group. Pitch your idea to ThinkSTEAM's Panel - Shark Tank Style - and win Amazon Echo dots for your team)
