A workshop for young learners to get hands on with Micro:Bits and the Python programming language, sponsored by Journi.

<h4>What happens when kids write the code that makes something blink, buzz, or move?</h4><p>Young makers will learn to program BBC micro:bits using Python. No experience required!</p><p>Led by Demonshae Glover, a coding instructor with eight years teaching youth across the city, participants will program scrolling text and images onto an LED screen and leave with a working project, along with the confidence that they can code it themselves.</p><p>To learn more about micro:bits, check out <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkip8imHojQ" title="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkip8imHojQ" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">this video.</a></p><p>Creative Coding Detroit is excited to be partnering with <a href="https://www.journi.org/" title="https://www.journi.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Journi</a> to make this workshop happen. We admire their track record of bringing code to Detroit youth in ways that are not just technical, but joyful and creative, too. </p><p><br></p><h4>Details</h4><p>This workshop is perfect for curious creative coders 12+.</p><p>Each workshop 'session' will last about 30 minutes, so grab a ticket for whichever time works best for you. Each session hosts 4 participants, and all three sessions are exactly the same program-wise.</p><p><br></p><h4>Held in the historic Vander building as part of the generative art exhibition, Mutual Assembly</h4><p>Hosted by Creative Coding Detroit, Mutual Assembly is an exhibition of generative code-based art created by ten Detroit-based artists. Parents can explore the exhibition while kids participate in the workshop!</p>
