Code for Tulsa: Criminal Justice Summit

The community of developers that makes up Code for Tulsa has been building civic apps since 2011.  We’re programmers, graphic designers, PR/Marketing professionals, and all of us have a huge heart for making Tulsa a better place to live, work, and play.  We’ve worked with Tulsa Transit, the Tulsa Fire Department, the Tulsa Library, the local food bank, the regional planning authority, and FEMA.

Civic Spark

As a follow-up to our <A HREF="https://www.revealnews.org/press/journalists-coders-and-community-groups-collaborate-to-address-oklahoma-female-incarceration/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Data+Design</A> event in Dec. of 2017, we would like to invite groups who are working on criminal justice issues here in Oklahoma.
We will begin the morning with a few presentations showing the progress that Code for Tulsa has made with our criminal justice initiatives: Courtbot, OSCN data scraping, and some analysis of a dataset provided by the Dept. of Corrections.  We'll also hear from the City of Tulsa about a collaboration we worked on, to provide reminders for individuals to make small payments for municipal fines and fees.
Lunch will be provided. We will also want to ask attendees: What projects are you working on?  What are the biggest priorities in criminal justice that we should be addressing as a community?  How might we help criminal justice groups collaborate together?
