Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates. By 2020, there will be 1,000,000 unfilled software engineering jobs in the USA. Through compelling interviews, artistic animation, and clever flashpoints in popular culture, CODE documentary examines the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking opportunities in computer science and explores how cultural mindsets, stereotypes, educational hurdles, and sexism all play roles in this national crisis. Expert voices from the worlds of tech, psychology, science, and education are intercut with inspiring stories of women who are engaged in the fight to challenge complacency in the tech industry and have their voices heard. CODE aims to inspire change in mindsets, in the educational system, in startup culture, and in the way women see themselves in the field of coding. 
The film will be immediately followed by a panel discussion from women in the Detroit tech scene covering development, engineering, design, user experience, education, marketing, and leadership. There are so many people that are involved in building a successful product or company. More of the voices should be from women and underrepresented groups. Through this panel, we hope that sharing different stories and showing what is possible will make IT more approachable, and invite a new wave of creators into an industry where the possibilities are endless.

FAQs
Do I have to RSVP?
Yes, you do. The theatre has a limited seating capacity, and we want to make sure that everyone is comfortable. Tell your friends, classmates, colleagues to come, but make sure that they RSVP so that they will get a seat in the event of a sellout.  
When should I arrive?
Come at 6:00! That way you will be able to grab a snack, make a friend, and find a seat! 
Will dinner be served?
Dinner will not be served, but there will be snacks and beverages provided. 
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No, anyone can come as long as they have RSVP'd. 
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There are many downtown lots where you can park, we suggest the <A TITLE="Detroit Opera House Parking" HREF="http://www.michiganopera.org/detroit-opera-house/parking-2/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Detroit Opera House</A> or the <A TITLE="Z lot parking" HREF="https://www.parkme.com/lot/76572/the-z-parking-garage-detroit-mi" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Z Lot</A>, as they are the closest in proximity.
