Join us for a screening of CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap with Director Robin Hauser Reynolds
About The Film: Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates. By 2020, there will be one million unfilled software engineering jobs in the USA. Through compelling interviews, artistic animation and clever flashpoints in popular culture, CODE documentary examines the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking opportunities in computer science and explores how cultural mindsets, stereotypes, educational hurdles and sexism all play roles in this national crisis.
Agenda
5:00 PM: Informal networking reception and all you can eat Enzo's Pizza
5:45 PM: Screening of the multi-award winning documentary CODE
7:00 PM: Panel discussion featuring the film director, industry professionals and faculty from UNC and Duke
Door prizes like Amazon Echo, Roku 4, Beats By Dre, etc. will be raffled off throughout the night, and Pikachu may even make an appearance. The first 100 attendees will receive t-shirts.
Free transportation from UNC is provided. A bus will depart from Sitterson Hall, Department of Computer Science, at 4:15 PM and return to campus 15 mins after the panel ends.
