Code Enforcement and Public Works: What residents need to know.

During the month of March the City of Birmingham will hold weekly information sessions on Code Enforcement and Public Works issues. You will have an opportunity to learn more about various topics that impact your community. The schedule for each Thursday is below. Registration is not required, but we would like to know who's attending.


March 5 – Property Maintenance (Housing & Environmental Code Enforcement)
Learn the do’s and don’ts of maintaining your property. We’ll clarify common questions like is it ok to park your car in the front yard? Is it ok to put a refrigerator on your front porch? How often do you have to cut your grass?

March 12 – Zoning Compliance
Get guidance on residential zoning rules. We’ll explain fence height limits, what types of home changes require a permit and how to ensure your property improvements meet zoning requirements.

March 19 – Public Works (Trees, Trash, Brush, Right-of-Way Responsibilities)
Understand how public works responsibilities affect your home and neighborhood. Learn who handles debris removal, how many trash cans are allowed and who is responsible for the space surrounding your home .

March 26 – SeeClickFix (Citizen Reporting Platform)
Find out how to quickly report issues in your neighborhood using SeeClickFix. We’ll walk through how to submit service requests for concerns like inoperable vehicles, stray animals, and how to track results.
