About this event

Are you a municipal employee, restoration professional, or community advocate passionate about nature-based approaches? Join the Stone Living Lab, Woods Hole Group, and MA Office of Coastal Zone Management for an informational field trip to Duxbury Beach! Learn about and try monitoring techniques used by coastal professionals, including salt marsh surveying, drone surveys, and more. We'll also dive into maintenance requirements for cobble berms, and how to track success. Attendees will also be connected with a network of coastal professionals, as well as resources about permitting, implementing, and monitoring NBA.

This trip is being offered free of charge with support of MA CZM's Coastal Resilience Grant. Please confirm that you are able to attend the trip before registering, and please complete the entire registration form. Is parking available?

Yes! Free parking will be available to attendees of this event. Please let the gate staff know you are attending the cobble berm field trip and they will direct you into the lot.

Will food be provided?

Yes! Snacks and water will be provided. You are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch - however, there will not be a designated lunch break.

What kinds of monitoring techniques will be demonstrated?

Professionals from Woods Hole Group and the Center for Coastal Studies will be demonstrating and discussing a number of cobble berm monitoring techniques, including: salt marsh surveys, aerial drone surveys, Real Time Kinematics (RTK) GPS, and more.

What kind of clothing should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that provides sun protection (including long sleeves and a hat), as well as shoes that can be worn on sand and uneven terrain. Please bring a water bottle.
