About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

The Coastal Forest Loop won the 2024 Coast Weekend Reader's Choice award for best trail in the Columbia-Pacific region. At 1.4 miles it's not the longest hike, but what it lacks in distance it more than makes up for in quality as you explore mature western hemlock-Sitka spruce forest with excellent views of Baker Bay. You'll get to observe plant species not commonly found in the area, learn about the biodiversity of this temperate rain forest, and maybe even catch a glimpse of river otters, bald eagles, and other wildlife. You will need a Discover Pass to park here; they are available for purchase on-site.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about local nature. Your guide, Rebecca Lexa, will share her knowledge about the local flora, fauna, and fungi, as well as the ecosystems they are a part of. Bring your curiosity and your questions, and allow yourself to get to know this amazing natural place more deeply.

While the trail is well maintained, there are rugged areas and places where you may need to step down off of large roots, so please wear appropriate footwear; hiking poles may also be helpful. Participants will be required to sign a liability form before we embark on the tour and agree to a code of conduct that basically boils down to "be nice to each other, and be nice to the land."

Ticket covers admission for one person. Gratuities after the tour are optional but appreciated.
