Introduction to Jazx Improv for Guitarits with Patrick Greene


Intimidated by jazz improv—fret not! Join Patrick Greene for an introductory session to jazz improvisation for guitarists. Through a study of idiomatic jazz phrases, learn how to apply phrases contextually within a tune and how to practice them with correct picking technique so you’re prepared to shred in your next jam session.

Open to: Intermediate guitarists (knowledge of basic minor/major scales and arpeggios)—bring your instrument along! Other levels are welcome to observe from the audience. Electric and acoustic guitars welcome, but please be mindful of others with regards to amplification. Space is limited! Advanced registration highly recommended.


Patrick Greene received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Music and Jazz Performance from Sonoma State University and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Marquette University. Patrick has performed locally since 1994; currently with Patrick Greene Trio and Swoop Unit. He produced first CD in 2001 and teaches jazz, blues, funk, and rock guitar privately.
