Clown College: Level 1

THIS IS A FIVE WEEK CLASS! CLASS GOES FROM 5/29 - 7/11. WE WILL HAVE 4TH OF JULY OFF.

Level one is an in-depth course in red-nose mask-focused clown. This class is excellent for students of all backgrounds and experience levels. Even intermediate and advanced clowns will take something from this class, so though you can definitely skip to level two if you’re an experienced clown, we don’t recommend missing out. You will learn or improve on:

1. How you are perceived in the red-nosed mask and what things are funny or interesting about you in the mask without trying
2. Connection and awareness with the audience while performing
3. Developing your sense of play, physicality, and use of language
4. Using your genuine emotional state and vulnerability to make people laugh in a way that is safe and healthy
5. The beginnings of “finding the game” - a clown technique that, once mastered, allows you to continually make audiences laugh through repetition and rhythm
6. Simple structures for creating short acts and pieces to perform at mics, variety shows, and showcases

On top of learning that, you’ll also be given the opportunity to create three unique clown pieces that will be coached and given feedback and be given access to filmed clown content that will thoroughly help you understand the art form.
