About this event

Swapping is the new shopping! According to the British Fashion Council, there are enough clothes on the planet right now to dress the next six generations of the human race!? So, pull out those items from your closet that are still in fabulous condition and bring them to our clothing swap boutique! Bring clean and good condition 5-10 items of clothing/bags/purses/jewelry (NO shoes) and you’ll get to take home 5-10 new to you items. We’ll have drinks and snacks and music, dressing rooms and mirrors and a photo station for some fun selfies with friends. There will be education about fast fashion, garment worker rights, fashion pollution and how you can volunteer in your community with the Olympia Surfrider Foundation. Plus, JR from Tailor's Ring Vintage will be available for appointments to alter any great swaps you find. Clothes arent made for us, we sometimes have to make them fit, so JR can do those alterations for you! Thank you for being the change in this fashion revolution!

Thank you to Compass Rose Shop Olympia for helping sponsor!

Thank you to Lark Boutique, Hot Toddy, Tailors Ring Vintage & The Window vintage for helping make the event cooler than your average swap! We support small business and remember to shop local when you can!

*Thank you for paying the little bit extra to cover the Eventbrite costs

What if I don't find anything I want?

That can happen! You may bring 8 items and only take home 5. That’s just the way of a clothing swap - you don't want to take home anything you don't really want. The idea is having less and choosing well. This event is for the fun and learning most of all.

When do I bring my items?

2 options! 1. When you arrive at 1:00pm. Volunteers will be checking the items you brought, making sure they are in good condition and clean. Then the items will be taken by other volunteers and put on racks and tables. 2. Drop off site: Ossa Skinworks during business hrs, 109 Capitol Way N, Oly

We ask that you leave the clothes you bring until the end of the event at 4pm. The clothes will be donated to diff orgs & The Window. At the very end you could take your items that weren’t swapped if you really want them back and at the end people may possibly take more than 10 items.

Can my ticket be refunded?

Even if it turns out you are not able to attend, we would really appreciate keeping the money. It will be donated to the Olympia Surfrider chapter who volunteers in the community on plastic pollution reduction & education, beach cleanups and cig butt cleanups

Where does the ticket money go?

Proceeds from ticket sales are going to cover costs of event and to https://olympia.surfrider.org/

Is this a 3 hour time commitment or can I leave when I’m done?

Event starts at 1:00pm, but the swap may not start until 1:30-1:45pm, as people arrive & their items get turned in & organized. Once the swap starts you are welcome to leave when you have found the items you want, but you will not be able to take back the clothes you brought to swap until 4pm.

Will there be clothes for all genders and children?

This event is geared to adults & all genders. Children’s and infant clothes will not be accepted. This event is inclusive, but of course the type of clothing will depend on who buys tickets and what they bring.

Why can’t I bring fast fashion items if we are trying to keep them in circulation, not the landfill?

This swap is focused on bringing our best items because thats what people ultimately want and why items stay in our closets longer. We don’t want clothes in the landfill either, but we also want to show that when we buy or ‘swap’ better, then we shop less because our clothes last and are loved.
