Dates: Begins September 4th (Class meets: 09/04, 09/18, 10/02, 10/16, 10/30, 11/13, 11/27, 12/4)

Credit or Non-Credit Available, SDSU Credit: 2 Units $160, Classes meet every other week
Course Description: This course provides participants the time and opportunity to explore culturally responsive and project-based teaching practices that challenge us to change the way we teach. Participants will form communities of practice around one book and implement a more thoughtful and deliberate approach to teaching that results in true learning partnerships to ensure student success.
Participants will select one of four texts: “Antiracist Writing Assessment Ecologies”, “Mathematical Mindsets”, “Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain,” and “The Buck Institute for Education Project-Based Learning Reader.” Communities of practice will be formed around ONE text and members will be invited to work collaboratively to design, implement and evaluate transformational strategies that directly address an issue in their classroom, campus or community.  You must be an AFT Guild member in good standing to enroll.
