Workshop Description

This workshop is for women, trans, genderqueer, and/or gender non-conforming people interested in learning to program. We will be learning in Clojure. (Clojure is an expressive, general-purpose programming language; it is a dialect of Lisp, and is predominantly a functional programming language.) ClojureBridge is emphatically queer and trans friendly.

This is an introductory workshop. The focus is on those new to programming. Complete beginners are welcome! (For those with some experience programming in another language we will have a 2nd track to learn more about Clojure.)

We'll meet up on Friday evening to install all of the software you need, then spend Saturday learning and writing code.

InstallFest Description

The InstallFest on Friday is a time to get some help setting up a working Clojure development environment. If you'd prefer to set up your environment on your own we will provide a link to do so. You do not need to be at the whole InstallFest - drop in anytime during the event to get set up!

Prerequisites

• A reasonably up-to-date laptop running OS X or Windows

• A power cord

• A little patience

• A little curiosity

• Identify as as a woman, trans, genderqueer, and/or gender non-conforming person

Transportation & Parking

Parking available nearby - some options here. Public transportation is a great option when travelling to downtown. Prime Digital Academy is just two blocks north of the Light Rail Station - Government Center stop and can also be accessed by several bus lines via Metro Transit. Downtown is also easy to access by bicycle using a number of trails or bike-friendly street routes which can be mapped out by following this link.
