"Climbing Denali for Semey Polygon Project" by Indira Weaver

A presentation of a Project to family, friends and the local community at the Norden Farm Centre for Arts in Madenhead on Friday 3rd May 7pm-9pm

I would like to share with my family, friends and a local community the story of the Semey Polygon in East Kazakhstan, the Nuclear Testing site of the former Soviet Union. To raise awareness about the consequences of these tests, I am colaborating with a well-known Kazakh Artist, Mr Karipbek Kuyukov, who was born without arms as a direct result of Nuclear Bomb Testing at the Polygon. Mr Kuyukov is an Activist, an International Public Speaker and once was nominated for a Nobel Prize for all his work dedicated to Peace.

This year marks the 35th Anniversary since the last nuclear test at the Polygon and Mr Kuyukov created a painting specifically for my upcomig expedition to Alaska where I will be attempting to climb the highest peak in North America, Mount Denali.

The presentation will take place at the Long Barn at the Norden Farm Centre for Arts, at Altwood Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 4PF (free parking).
