Join AIA Baltimore&#x27;s Committee on the Environment, AIA Maryland, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for a structured conversation on 2023 legislative priorities around climate action. We’ll discuss the wins of 2022, and the opportunities for 2023. Our conversation will include:<ul><li>changes the Climate Solutions Now act made to Maryland&#x27;s climate priorities</li><li>ideas that were not included in the final Climate Solutions Now act, and what potential changes could be made in 2023</li><li>other building performance and climate focused bills that will be a priority this session</li><li>the legislative process and key delegates and senators that may be instrumental in passing climate-focused legislation</li></ul>After the discussion, stay for a tour of the Phillip Merrill Education Center, headquarters of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The center, which opened in 2001, is one of the world&#x27;s most energy-efficient buildings, incorporating natural elements into a fully functional workplace which has minimal impact on its Bay- and creek-front surroundings. The first building to receive the U.S. Green Building Council&#x27;s Platinum rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the center and its sophisticated systems have won international acclaim as a model for energy efficiency, high performance, and water conservation.
