<h2>Why are we holding a second assembly on working together with other groups?</h2><p>This follows the first assembly on November 11th - there was an appetite to meet again. </p><h4>Who is invited?</h4><p>Environmental groups from across the area are welcome to send someone along, even if your group was not represented at the last one. We want as many groups as possible to be part of this - please send along one or more representatives. People from all kinds of groups are welcome, not just activists. </p><p><strong><strong>Our aim</strong></strong></p><p>We seek to develop a common purpose among a wide range of groups in our region which care about nature and the climate. Instead of working seperately, we want to join forces to effect change.</p>

<h2>Where and when.</h2><p>Star and Shadow Cinema on Saturday 27th January between 1.30 and 4pm.</p><p>We'll have a coffee break halfway through, with refreshments (donations are welcome on the day.)</p>

<h2>What will our focus be this time?</h2><p>We will be responding to the enthusiasm expressed at the last assembly to engage with the upcoming mayoral and general election. Both would seem to provide opportunities to advance collaborative working. Of specific interest people wanted to engage with <a href="https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/take-action/project-climate-vote/" title="https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/take-action/project-climate-vote/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Project Climate Vote</a>, by Greenpeace.</p><p><strong><strong>When we got in touch with Greenpeace, they asked if they could get involved.</strong></strong></p><p>They want to support us. A representative from Greenpeace is travelling from London, they have offered to help us with the action proposals that we come up with on the 27th, building on what we discussed at the last Climate Assembly.</p><p>The Greenpeace representative will make a presentation, followed by a discussion. We look forward to hearing from Greenpeace about the support they could offer us with mayoral and/or electoral work. This might include-</p><ul><li>Campaigning (for example help with local polling and any campaign press intervention)</li><li>Organising (for example ringing through supporters)</li></ul><p><strong><strong>Free training</strong></strong></p><p>They are offering to provide a training event in February, based on our particular needs and objectives.</p><p>If you attend, please consider in advance how the above might fit in with your own plans.</p>

<h3>What is a community assembly?</h3><p>Extinction Rebellion uses participatory democracy processes, such as <a href="https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/peoples-assemblies/" title="https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/peoples-assemblies/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">people’s assemblies</a>, in order to model participatory democracy within the movement, generate ideas, gather feedback and make decisions. We have named this event a 'Climate Community Assembly.' </p><p>The first assembly was initiated by Extinction Rebellion Tyneside, but it now includes people from over 20 local groups. </p>
