About Climate Cafes
Climate Cafes exist so that we can process our emotions in community, rather in isolation. They're a casual space for people to share their thoughts and feelings around climate change and connected social issues.

Cafes are a haven from busy-ness. We recognize the importance of action, advocacy, and protest; Cafes aren't about action, but about filling an additional unmet need of validation and emotional support. Repairing the human-nature relationship is more than something that must be done. It's something that must be felt.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope! If you'd like, you can bring a floor pillow or cushion, a blanket, or anything to help you settle in comfortably. Cozy clothing is certainly recommended.

Is this therapy?

Climate Cafes are not therapy, but they are therapeutic. We encourage appropriate professional support for your struggles - this is not that.

What happens during a Climate Cafe?

We start off by going over guidelines, doing a round of introductions, then spend most of the session sharing and making connections. We also include around 30 minutes afterwards for participants to chat and connect casually.

Can I come alone?

Yes! Many people attend solo. The entire group will be sharing and holding space; you might arrive alone, but you will not feel alone.

Do I need to be an expert on climate change to attend?

Climate Cafes are not about knowledge or debate. There is no emphasis placed on what people know or how much people know. Instead, we focus on our affective responses to a changing world. Your experience as a human being is not only enough, it's the foundation for our sessions.
