Cleveland's #1 Best Bike Tour - Smart-Guided

Downtown & Lakeshore Bikeways

Welcome to absolutely the best bikeway tour in Cleveland, Ohio. Being a native Cleveland cyclist it is my complete joy to present this fun, expertly designed and tested smart-guided bikeway tour with you.

This Cleveland cycle tour ties together dozens of fun, interesting, scenic, historic, tasty, and refreshing points of interest along a bikeway focused tour route - at your pace and your pleasure. You are the tour boss. CycleNuts Selfie Tours emphasize bikeways for safe, fun, cycle friendly adventures.

The route is a Short One-way Loop (SOL) which means you will always be seeing something new on the way back to the starting spot. That it is a Smart-guided tour is a bonus because you are completely in charge of the pace, the stops, the time, the agenda, and the wonderful memories created.

The tour crosses over the winding Cuyahoga River several times on several types of bridges - historic (Cleveland's bridges are rich in history), moving (both swing and lift), bicycle (newly built Wendy Island bridge), and double decker (Detroit Superior Bridge). And, it runs downhill underneath Main Ave Bridge , the "longest historic bridge in Ohio". The tour also follows along the shore of Lake Erie and the banks of Cuyahoga River through numerous picturesque parks, a beach, and the westside of downtown. All of that in less than 15 miles!

Most of the 15-mile route is bikeway - Whiskey Island Connector Trail, Ohio-to-Erie Trail, Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway, Centennial Lake Link Trail, and Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. This short tour travels through several beautiful lakefront and riverside parks, as well as Cleveland Public Square (the heart of Cleveland), East 9th Street Pier, the historical business, entertainment, residential neighborhoods of The Flats and Irishtown Bend, and so much more (see the following list).

Points of interest: Use this tour to connect you to a particular place you are interested in seeing (most of these you will be riding by, or are just a block or two away) - such as:

Or, use this tour just for a great little bike ride in spectacular Cleveland, Ohio.

This 15 mile, 83% bikeway tour follows the lay of the land. In Cleveland, the lay of the land includes the wonderful, deep Cuyahoga Valley running right along the downtown area. Although this tour comes with CycleNuts' 50% downhill guarantee, on the 50% going uphill your bike's climbing gears will be appreciated. Easily, anywhere along the way, the route can be detoured to add nearby points of interest.

Bring your own bike or rent one in the Cleveland area (see confirmation information for details). If your bike has gears you will probably use them to climb in several spots along the route. Any bike could be used for this route, even a single speed, as long as you do not mind walking it uphill in the spots mentioned. Sweating is optional - you set your own pace, comfort level, starting time, and touring agenda with CycleNuts' expert smart-guided cycle tour pattern. The route is shaded about 30% of the way.

HERE'S THE PLAN: CycleNuts provides an expertly designed and tested tour via internet links to a designated Google Maps route.   1. From your location simply click on link 1 provided by CycleNuts (using your cell phone) and follow the Google Maps directions to the starting spot;
  2. Unload your bike (if you transported it to the starting spot), or if you rode your bike to the starting spot then you are good to go;
