Description
CleanCon will be a one-day conference dedicated to connecting and empowering the next generation of clean energy leaders.
Hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapters of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute and Young Professionals in Energy, CleanCon will bring together big names and rapidly growing companies from the clean energy sector that are seeking motivated, young professionals, to join their team.

We are very grateful to Sunrun, our event sponsor. Andy Newbold from Sunrun will give a keynote address about Sunrun's recent work in Puerto Rico. Sunrun embarked on a mission to Puerto Rico in partnership with local firefighters, two non-profits - Empowered by Light and GivePower Foundation - as well as Zero Mass Water to bring 15,000 pounds of solar, battery storage, and clean water generation in response to Hurricane Maria, which left the island virtually 100% without power.

Session 1 - Grid Technology and Innovation
This session will feature an overview of the electric grid, including grid vulnerabilities, grid reliability, different types of energy technologies and power sources, and will discuss how the grid is evolving with clean energy technologies.

Session 2 - Policy, Science and Society
This session will cover the key policies that are driving the adoption of clean energy at a international, federal, and state level. The session will provide case studies of policies in practice, and discuss coalitions building that drives the development of policy, including the science, politics, and cultural movements of how policy is formed.

This session will give a broad overview of the world of project vs. corporate finance in renewable energy, including common financing tools, and limits to certain incentives.

Grid of the Future Energy Challenge
Participants will be placed into teams and guided by one or more of our speakers to compete in an engaging and fun energy challenge based off the materials presented during the bootcamp, and that will attempt to address the real world energy problem. Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded to the top team!
This event is hosted in partnership with The M.S. in Energy System Management Program (ENGY) at the University of San Francisco. ENGY is a interdisciplinary program focused on the skills and knowledge needed to be a leader in the transition to a renewable energy economy. Courses meet in the evenings at the downtown USF campus allowing students to work while in the program. More information is available at www.usfca.edu/energy
