About this event

Check out my profile all my other clay and fiber art classes, in-person and online available.

These sessions are for students who have take my clay classes only.

Come join me in the studio during my work time, and have some self-directed time to do more of the projects you learned in class or play around with some new ideas.

What's included:

• For every 1-3 hours booked, you get 1.5 lbs of a white buff clay to use. Additional can be purchased from me at the studio to be used during the session, if you need more.

•You get to use the studio underglazes.

• I will bisque fire your work, glaze it with a matte clear, fire it again to Cone 6, and notify you when it is ready for pick-up. ( usually in 4 weeks or so)

• You have access to all the studio tools.

I will be working on my own work, and available for questions, but not instruction. For instance, "how do I make a box ?" is instruction.

Registration close 24 hours before the sessions, so I can plan my day.

How to Register:

• Select the day. Each day will have different times available. See what the first and last time slot is available for that day, so you know how long you can stay. For instance, if the last time slot is 3pm, open studio ends at 4pm.

• Studio time is booked by the hour, so select the time you want to arrive.

• If you want to stay longer than an hour, select more time just by increasing quantity of tickets. For instance, if you want to arrive at 2pm and stay for 3 hours, select the 2pm ticket and select the number of tickets as 3.

• If you select the last hour of the day, you can only select 1 hour. For instance, if studio time tickets are available for, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm - that means studio time ends at 4pm. Don't book 3 hours at 3pm! Thanks.

Parameters for Clay Open Studio:

• The schedule changes often. Check back often for new dates. If I have a workshop get cancelled, I will open more time slots. As I know my studio work time, I will open more time slots.

•You can purchase your own clay bag from Seattle Pottery Supply, etc. but it MUST be CONE 6 clay. I will need to see the actual label before I fire in my kiln. I can't store your clay at my studio

• Likewise you can purchase your own glazes, but I ONLY fire to cone 6, so I will need to see the label as well.

• There is a difference between Cone 6 and Cone 06. Make sure you only purchase Cone 6 or it will damage my kiln. You will need to schedule an additional studio time to glaze your own work, once it has been bisqued. Please communicate this, so I don't clear glaze it.

• If you want to use red cone 6 clay, please bring your own table cloth and be prepared to wash tools after use.

•Projects need to be able to fit on my kiln shelves, not larger. Ask if you are not sure.

•All projects cannot be thicker than 1/2 inch to avoid kiln-damaging explosions. If they are thicker, I will not fire. Check in with me!

•I am not responsible for any breakage during firing. That is up to the kiln gods and simply the price you pay for working with clay.

The Garden Studio Workshops are held in a small urban forest with towering heritage Douglas Fir trees, that create a cool and pleasant shade garden, even in the height of summer. MAY-SEPTEMBER

Workshops are held rain or shine, because there is a covered workshop and a festival tent.

OCTOBER-MAY Workshops are held inside my cozy studio in the trees with a woodfire stove!
