Tiziana Contino:

"Classic Dark Words”, elaborating a bodily coding of gesture and alphabet. The work is part of a larger project, “Typo Wo-man”, which translates body gestures into letters forming a real bodily alphabet—a performative act, a dance telling a story only the body can express. Participants can create their own glossaries through a prototype app that allows them to build narratives I then perform, making each performance unique and shaped by the visual and auditory interactions with composer Carlo Tuzza.

This alphabet was created entirely with my body, turning it into a typographic sign that records emotional states. A key feature of the series is the use of invisible ink, whose marks complete and expand the work. These can only be revealed by the owner, who decides whether to make them visible or keep them hidden forever.

The hidden words are ritual and magical—personal yet shared—reflecting emotions that connect with other bodies and minds. They embody the essence of the work: memorable words that mark our existence and become a personification of ourselves through repeated signs.
