This introductory improv class covers the fundamentals of unscripted scene-based long-form comedy and lays the groundwork for our five-level training program.


We teach you to let go of your inner critic so you can make things up and have fun! Whether your goal is to perform on stage, improve public speaking, push yourself outside your comfort zone, or meet some fun people - this is the class for you!


Class Topics Include:

  • Improv navigation systems "Yes, and…" and "If This, Then What?"
  • Being in the moment
  • Active listening
  • Getting out of your head
  • Supporting your scene partner
  • Using emotions to heighten scenes
  • Creating & interacting with your environment
  • Using your body and voice to create memorable characters


This is a nine-week IN-PERSON course designed for beginning improvisers. No performance experience is necessary. The class will be held Mondays, 6-8 pm, starting June 17. We do not hold classes on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Week - November 25-30, Holiday Break - December 16-January 2.

The Student Showcase date for this class is Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 6 pm. Details will be provided in class.

Students must be 18 years or older.

This is an active class. You will be up moving. Please dress for comfort and moving around. No open-toed shoes, flip-flops, or heels.

All active Station Theater students receive free admission to Friday & Saturday regular shows, pending ticket availability.

All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable, but enrollment may be deferred to a future class.

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION: Ample street parking is available along Crockett, Hemphill, Summer, and Taylor Streets. Make sure to check street signs for parking availability. Please do not park in the lot in front of Toros HTX unless they are closed. Please be mindful when parking in front of area homes, as some driveways are difficult to see. The #30 bus stops at Sawyer St and Shearn St, which is approximately a 2-minute walk. See attached photo of our building for reference.

TICKET REFUND/EXCHANGE POLICY

If you have pre-purchased tickets online, please arrive 15 min before showtime to guarantee the best seating. If you have yet to arrive 15 minutes after the show starts, your tickets may be released to accommodate patrons on the waitlist. Tickets are non-refundable, though we are happy to transfer tickets to a different show when possible. If you have questions, please email info@stationtheater.com.
