OVERVIEW

Clackamas Summer Composition Camp is a week-long program designed for advanced musicians eager to explore music composition in a hands-on, engaging environment. Students will experiment with creative games, improvisation, and composition exercises while developing their own musical ideas.

Held at the Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students will learn in a Musescore lab, where each participant will have a personal workstation with a full-sized keyboard, computer, and headphones. Led by experienced educators Tanya Stojanovic and Dianne Davies, this camp encourages students to experiment with sound and structure while learning the fundamentals of composition.

At the conclusion of the week, students will perform their original compositions and take home a printed copy of their work.

Camp runs from 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. daily, Monday through Friday. Students are encouraged to bring bag lunch.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

This session is designed for intermediate to advanced musicians with prior experience in composition who want to refine their craft.

Participants should have a basic understanding of scales, tonic, dominant, and short chord progressions, with 3-4 years of piano study and music theory, as well as level 4 syllabus.

If you have any questions about your experience level, please email tanya.stojanovic@clackamas.edu to discuss placement.
