OVERVIEW

Clackamas Summer Composition Camp is a week-long program designed for beginner musicians eager to explore music composition in a hands-on, engaging environment. Using creative games, imaginative snacks, and both individual and group improvisation, participants will discover how to connect notes and create their own music.

Held at the Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students will learn in a Musescore lab, where each participant will have a personal workstation with a full-sized keyboard, computer, and headphones, providing the tools to bring their musical ideas to life.. Led by experienced educators Tanya Stojanovic and Dianne Davies, this camp encourages students to experiment with sound and structure while learning the fundamentals of composition.

At the conclusion of the week, students will perform their original compositions and take home a printed copy of their work.

Camp runs from 10:00 A.M. – 1:30 P.M. daily, Monday through Friday. Students are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

This session is designed for beginner musicians interested in learning composition. No prior experience in composing is required, but students should have 1-2 years of piano & music theory study experience.
