Citizen Forester 101: Pruning Workshop
Join us for a hands-on Citizen Forester 101 and Pruning Workshop, where you'll learn the basics of urban forestry, planting and proper tree pruning techniques. Citizen Foresters are the foundation of Louisville Grows’ urban forestry program, helping restore and maintain Louisville’s urban forest.
During this training, participants will learn:
- Basic tree anatomy and physiology
- Why, when, and how to prune trees properly
- Common pruning mistakes to avoid
- How pruning supports tree health, safety, and longevity
- Environmental stewardship and leadership skills to guide volunteers
This workshop wi a morning classroom lesson at Louisville Grows’ Healthy House 9:30am-11:00am, and will include hands-on pruning practice at Beeing2Gether 1647 Portland Ave 11:00am-2:00pm, where participants will work directly with trees and make a positive impact in the Portland neighborhood.
Training is open to individuals of all abilities. Seating is limited; please register.
This session is also open to current Citizen Foresters seeking a refresher on pruning and volunteer leadership.
