About this event

Mental Health First Aid is a training course designed to give members of the public key skills to help someone 18 & over who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course covers a range of common disorders and potential crises such as helping someone who is having a panic attack, is suicidal or has experienced an addictions relapse. The course covers how to offer and provide initial help as well as how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary.

Registration for this event will end Monday May 13, 2024.

You will have to complete the two hour pre-work in order to attend this training. The pre-work must be completed by 5:00 pm Wednesday May 22nd, 2024.

Due to funding restraints this course is offered to those serving in Orange County, California only.

Please note that we will no longer admit new participants after 10 minutes into the presentation due to the impact on the training process, information being shared and current participants.

There is a minimum registration requirement of 10 participants in order for this training to be facilitated. If there are fewer than 10 participants, the training will be rescheduled for the upcoming month. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Western Youth Services and NAMI Orange County, in sponsorship by Orange County Health Care Agency, provide mental health crisis intervention training (CIT) to all First Responders in Orange County. We focus our efforts to combine mental health information, and resources with de-escalation and communication tactics to best support first responders coming into contact with mental health crises in our community.
