The Circular Economy Network (CEN) is a new collaborative brought to you by circular economy catalysts Sarah Bloomquist and Tessa Vlaanderen. We aim to advance regenerative systems locally and globally through our monthly interactive forums comprised of CE pitches followed by small breakout group discussions. Join us Thursday, February 8, 6:30-8:30pm, at Häfele Showroom in Manhattan for the Circular Economy Network's (CEN) 2018 kick-off event! We'll hear from three New York based thought leaders about their work in creating a more circular built environment:

The event is open to all experience levels. The speakers will present their vision of a circular economy and the practical implementation of it, after which participants will build on these perspectives in small break out groups.
ABOUT CIRCULAR BUIDLING
In a circular economy, value is generated with resources already present in our cities: infrastructure, buildings, interiors, furniture, materials, etc. These all were designed with needs and constraints in mind that change over time, creating value loss and eventually waste. Circular strategies therefore include sharing, maintaining, renovating, retrofitting, refurbishing, repurposing, and recycling. But they also include design strategies such as modular design, design for flexible use or dissassembly, design for longevity, and design with recycled materials. Opportunities and challenges of circular building strategies, and innovating in the built environment in general, will be discussed in this event.

SPEAKER BIOS
Catherine Bobenhausen, Certified Industrial Hygienist and Senior Consultant, Colden Corporation
Catherine Bobenhausen, Certified Industrial Hygienist and Senior Consultant with the health, safety and environmental firm of Colden Corporation, has delved deeply into the chemical composition of building products. She conducts air monitoring in manufacturing facilities and offices. Catherine consults with architects, sustainability consultants and manufacturers on sustainable design, including LEED, Living Building Challenge and WELL, integrating chemical restrictions, certifications and test protocols, for informed selection of lower impact building products. Through Clean Production Action, Catherine achieved accreditation as an Authorized GreenScreen PractitionerTM for chemical hazard assessments. She has collaborated with Building Product Ecosystems, and serves on the Technical Committee of the Health Product Declaration Collaborative, committed to continuous improvement through transparency, openness and innovation in the product supply chain.

Marc Gee, Principal at GLUCK+
Marc Gee is a principal at GLUCK+, an architecture, construction and development firm in New York City. The practice is committed to crafting bold and conceptually unique architecture, with most work constructed by the firm’s unique Architect Led Design Build (ALDB) approach. Consistently recognized through national and international design awards and publications, GLUCK+ has been featured in Architectural Record’s “The New Master Builders,” by The Architect’s Newspaper with “Inside Architecture’s One-Stop Shop” and named by Fast Company in 2014 as one of “The World’s Top 10 Innovative Companies in Architecture,” ‘for taking control of the entire building process.’ Mr. Gee has been involved in projects as architect and on-site construction manager including the recent award-winning Cary Leeds Center for Tennis &amp; Learning, a $26 million public/private initiative in Crotona Park, Bronx, which The New York Times architecture critic, Michael Kimmelman hailed in April 2017 as "one of the city's best new works of public architecture;" The Stack, New York’s first prefabricated steel and concrete modular residential building development, which received a 2015 AIANY/BSA Housing Honor Award; and currently, 150 Rivington, a luxury condominium development in the Lower East Side. Tiffany Broyles Yost, Energy, Sustainability &amp; Building Physics Associate, Arup
Tiffany Broyles Yost is an architect and sustainability specialist with over 15 years of experience working on a diverse range of high performance buildings and sustainable master plans. She is an Associate at Arup where she leads sustainable buildings consulting within New York’s Energy and Sustainability group. Her work focuses on sustainable and circular design and looks to create buildings and environments that add to the comfort and wellbeing of their occupants. Tiffany holds a Masters of Architecture in Sustainable Environmental Design from the Architectural Association in London and a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Kentucky.
