Want to get started with circuits? Got dreams of your own electronics projects? This class is for you!
Learn to build basic circuits and get started with electronics! In this class, we'll cover an introduction to circuits basics and get lots of hands-on practice building circuits based on schematics. You'll learn about resistors, LEDs, diodes, power, capacitors, breadboards, circuit diagrams, and more! We'll blink LEDs, buzz buzzers, and even build a light-sensing circuit using a 555 timer.
Topics covered:
-
How to think about power and current in your circuits
-
How basic electronics components like resistors, diodes, and capacitors work
-
Reading schematics, and how to build circuits based on them
-
Basics of breadboarding and how to prototype your circuits
-
Using a multimeter to check electrical connections
-
Reading datasheets, and how to use the 555 timer to build some classic circuits with basic "logic"
Materials
All students will receive a basic electronics starter kit to take home after the class. No other materials required - just bring yourself.
Who should take this class?
We'll refresh a few concepts from high school physics and math. No previous experience with electronics is required.
OK, awesome, I want to join!
Please be ready to start at 1pm! We find that you will need this time to get through the whole class. Our classes tend to sell out about a week in advance so if you're interested, you may want to sign up early.
