June 21 - Umberto Eco: A Library of the World (2022), 80 minutes, directed by Davide Ferrario, featuring Umberto Eco.

This film is a bibliophile’s dream! Umberto Eco (1932-2016) was an Italian professor of semiotics, philosopher, journalist, critic, and novelist. He also maintained a library in Milan of over 50,000 volumes. Eco guides us through stacks of exquisite rare antique books. In the process he muses on everything from the sensual pleasures of books, to fascism, truth and lies, memory, and sentience itself. In celebration of literate human knowledge, Umberto Eco travels to several of the world’s most glorious libraries. “To be intellectually curious is to be alive,” he said. “And believe me, a lot of people are not alive.”
