The Walking Galleryis a group of people who walk into a conference space wearing business jackets or doctor’s lab coats.  That alone is not unusual.  But these jackets are works of art.  Each one shall be painted with the story of a patient or an element of medical advocacy by Regina Holliday or another artist.  These masterpieces will be worn on the backs of government employees, technology gurus, medical professionals, social media activists, CEO’s of companies, artists and many others.  By walking they are spreading awareness of the concept of truly patient centered care.

<P><SPAN>This is the fifth year of Cinderblocks as a patient led conference. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>This is the fourth year that it is hosted in the beautiful mountains of Western Maryland. </SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN>Each year we gather together as patient and provider, </SPAN>technician and artist, dancer and informatics professional, nurse and lawyer, all working together to make healthcare better for us all.  <SPAN>This year's theme is: "The Many Hats We Wear."  I thought it would be nice to "pass the hat."  Anyone who donates at the $50.00 and above level will have a hat displayed in their honor, to symbolize the fact that we need the help of many different people from every walk of life to create this event.  Donors will also be recognized on signage as a supporter of Cinderblocks and The Walking Gallery of Healthcare. </SPAN></P>
<P>The conference consists of two and 1/2 days of educational sessions and evening events. On Thursday May 17th at Salt &amp; Pepper Studios we host a dedication to members of The Walking Gallery who have finished their earthly mission.  On Friday May 18, The Walking Gallery Gathers and we have a concert by the Casselman Bridge. </P>

<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal">By Car:</DIV>
<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal">The location is about 1 ½ hours by car from Pittsburg or 2 ½ hours from DC/Baltimore.</DIV>

<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal">By Train:</DIV>
<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal">The Amtrak train from DC has a daily stop in nearby Cumberland, which is about 20 minutes away.</DIV>

<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal"><SPAN>Who will be there?</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal"><BR></DIV>
<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal">We expect to see a very diverse crowd at this event. There will be people who work in the government, healthcare, crowdfunding and technology. We expect to see patients, patient advocates, activists and caregivers. Artists, performers and dancers will be attending as well as local individuals very interested in the intersection of art, policy and health.</DIV>

<DIV CLASS="MsoNormal"><A HREF="http://www.thecasselman.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Casselman Inn</A> This hotel is in the heart of town and in walking distance to most of our activities. It is a historic drover's hotel and has more space in a motel addition.</DIV>
