Cinco de Mole

What is mole? One way to think of it is the Mexican version of a curry made with a variety of nuts, seeds, and spices. Many people know mole as a chocolate sauce, but cacao is one of the many ingredients found in many (but by no means all) moles. My Mom's Mole

Join us for a night of food, drink, art, music, and dancing! First Friday in May is also Cinco de Mayo so we're bringing our 2nd annual Cinco de Mole popup to the Santa Cruz Food Lounge.
World-renowned photographer, Miguel Zafra, will be the featured artist. A native of the Mixteca region of Oaxaca, Zafra has spent over two decades mixing fine art photography and photojournalism to document indigenous culture, immigrant communities, nature and each’s respective place in the larger socio-political landscape.
The Zafra exhibition runs from 5 to 9 pm; dinner service begins at 5:30 and ends at 10 pm. The Food Lounge bar will have happy hour prices from 4 to 6 pm and close at 10 pm. The bar will also have a special hour (from 5 to 6 pm) featuring flights and tastings of local spirits like El Ladron from Venus.

Appetizer 
Mole nachos (a mini-version of our usual dish: handmade tortilla chips, shredded chicken or roasted vegetables drizzled with My Mom's Mole and mole queso and garnished with fresh tomatoes and pickled jalapeños)
 
Entrées (served with white rice served with three mole sauces (My Mom's Mole, mole verde, and mole coloradito)
Roasted chicken leg & thigh
or
Sautéed spring vegetables (asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, onions, and garlic)
 
Side dish 
Cactus & kale salad (our signature salad made with nopales, kale, red onion, tomatoes, jalapeño, and cilantro in a citrus dressing)
