Ciba Punch Performance

Ciba Punch Performance

Feminist Center for Creative WorkLos Angeles, CA
Sunday, Mar 22 from 2 pm to 5 pm
Overview

LACE and the Feminist Center for Creative Work invite you to celebrate the spring equinox with a workshop facilitated by CAO Collective.

Rooted in a feminist ethics of care, the Ciba Punch subverts the Chinese traditional ciba (food)-making process and reveals the often hidden domestic labor performed by womxn. By punching, chanting, making together, this collective feminist performance reclaims our own definitions of (em)power(ment) from patriarchal definitions of force and gendering. Together, we reimagine a powerful yet non-punitive way of community building and healing. This workshop features a performance by Julia Santoli and is multigenerational and open to all!

Please note that although we try to follow sanitary procedures, we are not qualified to serve the ciba as food, and please consume at your own risk. To ensure the health and safety of our community, we require that participants wear a face mask (KN94/95 and higher quality preferred) and use sanitation gloves when punching. We will provide masks and gloves.

Capacity: 100 people

Parking

We recommend mapping to 3033 Dolores St and parking in the lot next to The Pit. To get to FCCW from there, you’ll cross the street, enter through a gate on the left to “The Parc,” walk across the garden, enter through another small passageway on the left, and make a right across the lot to the FCCW building. Instructional graphic below:

ADA Accommodations

There is one ADA parking spot in front of the main FCCW building, entering from Rosslyn. To enter the building, there is a ramp to the left of the main entrance. The bathroom is ADA accessible. Chairs will be provided throughout the space for those who prefer to sit.
