The Church State Council was established in 1964 as the religious liberty ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church serving the territory of the Pacific Union Conference, encompassing the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. This year, we celebrate our 60th anniversary celebrating our generational win in the U.S. Supreme Court establishing a vigorous legal requirement for employers to provide religious accommodation to their employees. We will also be honoring several individuals who have made unique contributions to the legal work of the Council including:
Professor James Sonne, Director, Stanford U. Law School Religious Liberty Clinic
Wendy Musell, attorney
Todd McFarland, Assistant General Counsel, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
Hiram Sasser, First Liberty Institute
Joseph Lovretovich, attorney
