Overview

Chuck Ragan brings his raw, soulful songwriting to The Argo for an intimate night of folk-leaning rock and honest storytelling.

People come to Chuck Ragan from many directions. For some, he’s the unmistakable voice of Hot Water Music, a cornerstone of punk rock for over three decades. For others, he’s known through his solo work, the beloved Revival Tour, or even his life offstage running a fly-fishing operation in Northern California. No matter how you arrive, what stays consistent is Ragan’s deep sense of honesty—an approach to music and life that’s felt immediately and never feels forced.

That spirit runs straight through Love And Lore, Ragan’s first solo album in ten years. The record is the result of patience, perseverance, and letting songs unfold in their own time. First imagined years ago and shaped slowly through life changes, family responsibilities, and global pause, Love And Lore finds Ragan expanding beyond any one genre label. Folk roots remain, but the songs stretch outward—embracing rock textures, richer arrangements, and a sense of space that allows each track to breathe.

Lyrically, Ragan digs deep, exploring relationships, distance, family, loss, and the quiet work of finding peace. His road-worn voice carries a lived-in weight, delivering lines that feel less like performance and more like conversation. Backed by an incredible group of musicians—including Todd Beene, George Rebelo, and Spencer Duncan—the songs balance intimacy with power, offering moments that are stripped-down and reflective alongside ones that hit with full-band intensity.

Live, Chuck Ragan shows are equal parts catharsis and connection. Whether he’s leaning into a hushed acoustic moment or letting a song swell and roar, there’s a communal feeling in the room—a reminder that these stories belong to all of us in some way. This March 29 show at The Argo promises an evening rooted in honesty, resilience, and the kind of songs that stay with you long after the final note fades.
