Choreographic Composition: Creative Laboratory and Improvisation

Online ticket sales end 2 hours prior to the start of the event. Pre-registration is only available online via credit card payment. Tickets may still be purchased at the door using cash, check, or credit card.Late seating is at the discretion of the artist and The Dance Complex, and may not be available after the start time of a performance. In general, we advise arriving at least 15 minutes before the show start time. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show, at which time our bar is open in our lobby space. After the show has begun, entry is not guaranteed and refunds are not available. You may receive a refund through Eventbrite up until 24 hours prior to the event.Our ground-level lobby area and performance space is ADA compliant. Gender-neutral accessible bathrooms are located on both the ground and second-floor levels of the building. There is a motorized lift that can bring one person at a time from the ground floor to the second floor should a guest wish to use it. The Dance Complex

This creative laboratory  is designed as an in-studio movement and dance improvisation session  to generate original movement vocabulary.

About the Workshop: The master workshop on choreographic composition is designed as an in-studio movement and dance improvisation session that serves as a creative laboratory for participants. The session is divided into two main parts. The first part focuses on a discussion of choreographic terminology, providing a foundational understanding for all attending artists. The second part encourages participants to generate original movement vocabulary through spontaneity and with guided tasks, fostering movement experimentation and “dance happenings” by engaging in various “choreographic games.”Part 1: Introduction &amp; choreographic terminology lecture Part 2: Practicing movement improvisations &amp; instantaneous dancing Part 3: Open discussion forum and closing remarks About Vladimir:Vladimir Angelov is an accomplished choreographer, published author, and the Founder and Executive Director of the International Choreography Organization and Networking Services – Dance ICONS, Inc. This global association and network for choreographers provides resources and information to more than 4,300 choreographers worldwide. Most recently, Angelov published a new book on choreographic craft and creative practices, YOU, THE CHOREOGRAPHER – Creating and Crafting Dance , released by Routledge, Taylor &amp; Francis Group, London and New York, 2024. This workshop takes place in Studio 7, on the ground floor of The Dance Complex.
