Nowadays, the date "May 20th" in China has been given a special meaning through the homophonic of phrase "I love you", but traditional Chinese don't usually speak that phrase out, especially between parents and kids. Through this activity, we hope that students can attain a deep understand of the cultural shock regarding the way to express "love".


This special event in the Asia Pacific Month extends the emerging modern Chinese culture of "520" and revolves around the theme of "love". Using ancient Chinese poetry and allusions as clues, we will explore many implict Chinese expressions of love to help you grasp the subtlety of Chinese culture and mindset better.

This event is led by a full-time Chinese teacher at the International Chinese Language College.


Lecturer:


Ms. Ziwei (Tabby) is a full-time teacher of Chinese as a foreign language at Tianjin International Chinese University, holding both the Hanban Teacher Qualification Certificate and the English Teacher Qualification Certificate. Proficient in adjusting teaching methods and styles according to the actual situation of students at different age levels, with rich experience in tutoring Chinese proficiency tests (HSK) and teaching business Chinese. Teacher Ziwei is versatile, mastering various Chinese talents such as Peking Opera, piano, gourd silk, handicrafts, and tea art; The teaching style is unique, humorous, and rich in content. Different teaching methods are provided for students with different personalities, ages, and cultural backgrounds. Students are spread across more than 30 countries.

1) Discovering "love" in allusions: How have Chinese people expressed and practiced "love" since ancient times? From the poems of famous poetries such as Li Bai and Su Shi, as well as some famous allusions, the teacher tells how Chinese people prove their "love" through actions.


2) Comparing "Love" in cultures: How does the expression of "love" so different between western and eastern cultures? Two symbolic songs tell you the comparison!


3) Imageries within Chinese cultures: Chinese people use a number of identical sceneries and stories to underline their subaudition when talking. If you have no idea what "Willow", "Cicada" and "Moon" implies in Chinese, join us and you'll know more!
