About the Course

This course is a hands-on introduction to Kai Script (Regular Script)楷书, the most essential style in Chinese calligraphy. We will follow the famous Ouyang Xun 欧阳询 (Ou style 欧楷), which is known for being neat, balanced, and perfect for beginners to build a solid foundation.

What We Will Cover

The lessons are broken down into easy, manageable steps:

The Basics: Learn how to hold the brush and master the fundamental strokes (dots, lines, and hooks).

Character Building: Practice writing individual characters and learn how to balance their structure.

Final Project: Put everything you’ve learned together to complete your very own calligraphy artwork.

About the Instructor: Ziyang He

The course is led by Ziyang He, the co-founder of MoStudio. Ziyang brings a unique combination of traditional lineage and modern academic discipline to his teaching:

• Traditional Training: Ziyang studied under Master Yang Zhihua, a renowned calligrapher and a formal disciple of the legendary Master Tian Yingzhang. Having grown up in a family that established several calligraphy schools in China, he carries forward a heritage of systematic art education.
• Teaching Philosophy: With his background in both arts and engineering fields, Ziyang excels at breaking down complex artistic concepts into clear, logical steps that are accessible to young learners.
